The Beach Day

Beach Day

On one sunny Saturday afternoon
my grampa came up to me and said
that we are going with our Family to
the beach then I said YAY!!!

When we were getting ready I went to go have
lunch when my Nana said “just have lunch at
the beach we don’t have any time” so I replied
ok. When we all finished getting ready we got
inside my grandpa’s van and then Zoomed Off.
Next I asked “which beach are we going to”
and he replied “okahu bay”. While we were
driving I saw heaps of people talking to each
other at this shop called Mexico Taco’s. Also
after we drove past I fell straight to sleep.

When I woke up we were already there so I
got out of the van and went to go say hi to
my family. Then I went to my uncle to say
hi because he was at the BBq cooking food.
After I finished saying hi to everyone I went
into the boys Changing Room/Toilets to get
changed into my swimming togs. When I
came out I walked straight to the water and
stood there waiting for my sisters to finish
getting changed so we could play in the water.

After a while me and my sisters saw my cousins
go into the changing rooms with some
swimming togs so we waited and waited
until they finished getting changed so
they could come swim with us. After
they were finished getting ready they
were running so fast to the water because
when they touched the sand against their
feet it was burning hot; when they came
into the water we started a water fight it
was so much fun that my aunts and uncles
came in and joined as well.

When it settled down me and my cousins came
out of the water and went back into the changing
rooms while my sisters stayed in the water.
When we went into the changing rooms we
all wanted to have a shower (Who wouldn’t).
We first waited one by one to have a shower;
next we all got changed into our nice, warm
and dry clothes. Then my cousins went to sit
with my family while I was lying down on a
carpet with my nana and grandpa watching my
sister playing in the water.

After a while my sisters came out of the water
because my uncle finished doing the BBq so when
my sisters finished getting ready they came to me
and my family and we all waited for our plate of food
so I waited and waited until it was my turn to get my
plate of food. The food looked lovely and also tasted
good. Later when we finished eating I waited for my
cousins and my sisters to finish eating so we could
cross the road together so we could all go to the park.
When they finished we finally crossed the road and
slowly walked to the park.

When we finally got there we all separated and went
to each place around the park. I don’t know where my
cousins went but I was at the flying fox. It was so fun
that after a while I saw some of my cousins come to
join me. After awhile we all went back across the road
to help pack up; when we got there we saw that my
family already started packing up so we just went
and helped. When we finished packing up we said
bye to my family and cousins and then got into my
car and we drove all the way home.

Con: It was so fun at the beach that I wish we
would do it again sometime.

The Possum Problem

Intro: The possum is a pest to
native trees, native birds and
also other species. They are
small rodents; famous for their
fur. In the past few years they
have become a huge problem
because they destroy our
environment .

 P1:  In 1837, Possums arrived
in Aotearoa by British Settlers.
The british settlers brought them
to Aotearoa Because the Men wanted
the possums fur to sell for money.
But what the british settlers didn’t
know was that  possums were going
to be a huge problem.

 P2: In 1920, possums became a
problem because they were
destroying the environment and
also our insects and animals.
Possums are also destroying
our ecosystem.

TO help solve the problem,
the government has set up
traps, laid poison and allowed
people to hunt them without a
licence.

Conclusion:By 2050 NZ would be pest free.
